Privacy Policy

My Retirement Hub ("we," "us," "our") is built by Xactavent (Pty) Ltd. This policy explains what information we collect through the website and the My Retirement Hub app, why we collect it, and the choices you have — in plain language, without the legal jargon this page is sometimes stuck with.

What We Collect

Location. If you allow it, we use your device's location to show you things near you — Deals Near You, nearby events, clubs, WiFi hotspots, and the Road Trip Companion feature. In the app, this may also be used for Stay Safe, if you choose to share your location with family. We do not track your location in the background unless you have explicitly turned that feature on, and you can turn location access off at any time in your device settings.

Contact details you give us. If you use the Subscribe form, the Contact form, or post to the Care/Volunteer boards, we collect what you type in — typically a name, email address, and/or phone number — so we can respond to you or deliver what you signed up for (like the Teach Love Inspire magazine).

Basic technical information. Like most websites, our server automatically notes standard details such as browser type and general region when you visit, for security and to understand how the site is used.

What We Don't Collect

We don't currently require an account or login. We don't collect payment card details ourselves — payments for supplier listings and sponsor slots are handled directly by Flutterwave, our payment processor, under their own privacy and security terms.

How We Use It

• To show you deals, events, and points of interest relevant to where you are
• To send you things you've asked for — the newsletter, magazine, or a reply to an enquiry
• To keep the site and app working properly and securely
• To understand, in general terms, which parts of the site are useful, so we can improve it

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Who We Share It With

We use a small number of service providers to run the site and app — for example Flutterwave for payments, and Anytime Mail / Anytime Chat (also built by us) for sending emails or WhatsApp messages you've opted into. These providers only receive what they need to do their specific job, and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

The App Specifically

The My Retirement Hub app (Google Play and App Store) requests location permission for the same features described above — Deals Near You, Events, Clubs, WiFi Finder, Road Trip Companion, and Stay Safe. Location is only accessed while you're using the relevant feature, or continuously only if you've explicitly enabled Stay Safe's location sharing. You can review or revoke this permission at any time in your device's app settings.

Your Rights

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. To do any of this, just email us — see below.

Cookies & Local Storage

The website uses minimal local storage — mainly to let the site work offline as an installable app (a "service worker" that caches pages for you). We don't use tracking or advertising cookies.

Children

My Retirement Hub is built for retirees and their families and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Since My Retirement Hub is a growing platform, we'd encourage checking back occasionally.
